About
Kelly Burke, a long-time resident of Evergreen Park, will be a strong, independent voice for the people of the 36th District, which includes all of Evergreen Park and Hometown and parts of Oak Lawn, Chicago Ridge, Palos Hills, and Hickory Hills as well as parts of Chicago's 18th, 19th and 21st Wards.
Kelly and her husband, Terry, have lived in Evergreen Park for seventeen years and are raising three children, Emily, Jack and Caroline. Elected in 2003 and re-elected in 2009 to the Evergreen Park Library Board, Kelly has served as President of the board since 2005.
During Kelly’s time on the library board, she spearheaded an extensive renovation of the library, resulting in a state-of-the-art facility that serves as the community’s educational, social, and cultural centerpiece. Kelly was instrumental in working with the Village of Evergreen Park, state and county agencies, and private donors to secure funding for the project.
Kelly is an attorney who is on staff at Saint Xavier University, where she helps obtain funding for many university programs and improvements, including campus building renovations, increased student scholarship assistance, and services to the local community such as the health center and the speech therapy clinic.
Prior to joining Saint Xavier University, Kelly practiced law for fourteen years, focusing on family and insurance law. Kelly also served as a law clerk to two circuit court judges and was a legislative aide to former State Representative Andrew J. McGann.
Kelly is a graduate of Saint Thomas More grammar school and Saint Ignatius College Prep. She received her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana and graduated from the John Marshall Law School.
Kelly and her family are members of Most Holy Redeemer Parish. She has been an active volunteer, coach, fundraiser, scout leader and founder of a popular Mock Trial program now in its sixth year.
Kelly Burke understands the needs of the people in the 36th District. She will work hard as a full-time State Representative to make our neighborhoods safe and prosperous places to live and raise families.
